Top Ten Moments in Bisco Inferno History

The first weekend of June in Colorado is cause for celebration for most people out here but, for fans of The Disco Biscuits, it has an extra special place in their hearts. The reason: Bisco Inferno. For four nights, their favorite band comes to town and lets it all hang out culminating with a headlining performance at Red Rocks. Over the years, TDB fans have witnessed to some epic moments and, in advance of this year’s Bisco Inferno, here are ten of our favorite.

TNertle – November 20th – Cervantes’ Other Side

This Denver based band has created a collaborative brood that is gaining steam and carving out their own musical corner with the incomparable party they bring to the stage. RJD2 – January 30th – Bluebird Theater

The Bluebird Theater was already filling up by 9pm on Friday with patrons quick enough to have scored entrance as the two night event had sold-out in advance. The genre bending group displayed on the Bluebird marquee turned out to be a righteous assortment of talent. The theater hosted a colorful mixture of artists ranging from Hip-Hop to Electronic to Funk. The mix of artists on the bill was impressive giving Colorado bands a chance to share the stage with a legend in the business.

Crashing into the local music scene like a wild animal, Tiger Party is the latest and greatest Electro/Funk/Jam superband to spring up in Denver. Pigs On The Wing – March 7th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

Cervantes’ was packed with a healthy mix of hardcore Pink Floyd fans looking to get a little weird and the usual Denver suspects as former STS9 bass player David Murphy brought his Pigs On The Wing project back to Denver. With local favorites Tiger Party on board to kick things off, the near sold-out crowd was treated to a night of infectious dance grooves and psychedelic classics that did not disappoint.

RJD2 – January 31st – Bluebird Theater

The kids packed into the Bluebird for RJD2’s sold-out show last Friday, the first in a two night run. The DJ/Producer out of Philadelphia, PA has been perfecting his art since 1993 and is something of a genius when it comes to managing his music. Often show-goers scoff at DJs for their “talents” (aka pushing buttons). To be sure, there were no utterances of this nature during RJ’s performance on Friday as he danced between several turntables and various sound making consoles, proving that without a doubt, not all DJs were created equal.

The Disco Biscuits – April 25, 26, 27 – Boulder Theater & Red Rocks

There are few bands out there that are more polarizing than Trancefusion Jamband pioneers The Disco Biscuits. Music fans seem to either love or hate them with very few people falling anywhere in between. Nothing like a quick stop home to do some laundry and unload all your camping and photo gear, just to turn around and pack it back up less than 24 hours later. Listen Up Denver! is, after all, a Colorado music resource and with Colorado bands Elephant Revival, MTHDS, Euforquestra, Octopus Nebula, Tatanka, Atomga, James and The Devil, and more playing the Desert Rocks 2012 music festival, how could we not follow the setting sun and stream of band busses heading west?

Wakarusa – Mulberry Mountain, AR – Part 2

It’s time for Part Two of the wonderful and wacky world of Wakarusa! Days three and four of the festival featured music from everyone from Matisyahu to Big Gigantic and while there were several massive thunderstorms, they didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd or our team of reviewers and photographers. Saturday morning kicked-off with a potluck breakfast and by the time Sunday evening’s epic rainstorm rolled around our team was already planning for next year!
