Justin Townes Earle – June 16th – Mishawaka Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

The snowmelt-filled Poudre River roared down the canyon and behind the stage at the scenic Mishawaka Amphitheatre last Saturday night. The crowd of college kids, older cowboys and mountain men and their sundress clad girlfriends showed up early to enjoy beer and a nice summer evening. The rugged stage and buildings that surrounded it looked and smelled like the dinning hall at a summer camp with a little less bug spray and a lot more beer.

Joe Pug and Anais Mitchell & Jefferson Hamer – May 23rd – eTown Hall

Estimated read time 4 min read

eTown Hall, the home base of the nationally syndicated eTown radio broadcast, was the scene of yet another outstanding pair of artists last month, Joe Pug and Anais Mitchell. While last year featured headliners Jackson Browne, The Weir Robinson Greene Trio, and Brandi Carlile, this year brought Iron & Wine, Amos Lee, and Lyle Lovett to the intimate stage by the river in Lyons and each one mesmerized and surprised as they entertained the sold-out crowd.

The Jayhawks – January 27th – The Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

When The Jayhawks and Justin Townes Earle took over The Ogden on Friday, the night had a stark contrast to it. It started off with a man who is on his way up, and ended with a band that is somewhere in limbo. Earle displayed passion, soul, and meaning with his performance, while The Jayhawks seemed like it was all just a job. The audience seemed to be completely blown away by The Jayhawks set, but we think they were just drunk on nostalgia.

Justin Townes Earle Talks Memphis Soul & A New Record

Estimated read time 5 min read

Justin Townes Earle is a legacy in the music world and he has inherited many things from his father, the legendary Steve Earle. When Justin Townes decided to follow in his father’s footsteps by stepping on to a stage, he also stepped into lifestyle of excess. Last year brought him to his knees in his personal life, but his musical career began to stand tall when the title track off of his 2010 release, Harlem River Blues, was chosen as song of the year by the Americana Music Association.
