It was a cold, snowy night in Nederland, Colorado. But the town was hoppin’ as it was in the midst of the annual Frozen Dead Guy Days festival. Over at Whistler’s Café The Grant Farm was getting ready to take the stage. Driving up to Ned in an old van was a then little known group of street performers turned club players called Fruition. While neither band knew it at the time, one of those cosmic crossing of the paths was about to take place. But it wasn’t all in the stars . . .

Kung Fu – February 2nd – The Fox Theatre

Despite the news of a major snowstorm headed for the Front Range, many people came out in the snow and freezing temperatures to check out the relatively newer supergroup, Kung Fu. While most who made the trek to The Fox had never seen Kung Fu, there was still quite a buzz about these guys since they had already amazed other area crowds at shows earlier on their Occupy Colorado tour. We can only hope that the sounds of Kung Fu will occupy our ears and hearts again very soon.

20 Questions With “Smooth Money Gesture”

Smooth Money Gesture is infectious Groove Funk with ear twitching space jams, face melting solos, and tight rhythmic changes. The sextet’s sound is rooted in Rock and Roll with elements of Funk, Bluegrass, Metal, and Electronica producing a jam based high energy psychedelic creation all their own. The band released their debut CD “The Grand Scubian: Evolution” the year and Guitarist Doug Dominico recently sat down with Listen Up Denver! to answer our 20 Questions and talk a little about what’s in store for next year.
