Riot Fest – September 19th, 20th, 21st – Sports Authority Field
Although Riot Fest celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year, it was only the second year that the festival has come to Colorado. The festival was originally located in Byers, but after the town refused to let festival attendees return for the second year, the event was moved to the blacktop at Sports Authority Field in Denver. Riot Fest is one-of-a-kind festival, with carnival rides and sideshows and a wide variety of music ranging from Rock to Punk to Rap.
Sublime with Rome & Pepper – August 12th – Red Rocks
Pepper and Sublime with Rome packed Red Rocks on Sunday night with a crowd of nostalgia seeking 30 somethings and a mob of kids who were glimmers in their parents eyes when Bradley Nowell and Sublime got together back in 1988. Though Nowell is no longer with us, having died of a Heroin overdose back in 1996, Rome Ramirez, Josh Freese, and original Sublime member Eric Wilson are carrying the torch in the form of Sublime with Rome and doing a damn good job of it.
311 & Sublime with Rome – August 16th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre
“Summertime and the living’s easy,” no truer words may have ever been sung as Unity Tour, featuring Sublime with Rome and 311, rolled into Red Rocks Amphitheater on this mid August evening. With music in the summer air, the crowd did indeed become united through drink, a little smoke, and a whole lot of dancing.
