Bob Mould – May 7th – Boulder Theater

“Joy” isn’t a word that usually ascribed to Bob Mould’s music, but Mould’s set at the Boulder Theater last weekend was joyous and even a little exuberant. The veteran Punk rocker showed no signs of slowing down at the Boulder Theater, powering through a 23 song set that embraced his full history from the Punk sound he pioneered in the 80s and 90s to his current solo album, ‘Patch the Sky.’

Riot Fest – September 19th, 20th, 21st – Sports Authority Field

Although Riot Fest celebrated it’s tenth anniversary this year, it was only the second year that the festival has come to Colorado. The festival was originally located in Byers, but after the town refused to let festival attendees return for the second year, the event was moved to the blacktop at Sports Authority Field in Denver. Riot Fest is one-of-a-kind festival, with carnival rides and sideshows and a wide variety of music ranging from Rock to Punk to Rap.

Ryan Adams – October 29th – The Boulder Theater

The Boulder Theater was packed on Monday night as the campaign threw a free acoustic show with Ryan Adams for Obama supporters and campaign volunteers. Despite being an official campaign event, Adams only briefly touched on the election and voting a couple of times during the show and was by no means shoving politics down our throats. In fact, we’re pretty sure President Obama’s name didn’t come up once during the mellow, and at times hilarious, two hour performance.
