PantyRaid – March 2nd – The Fillmore Auditorium

Last Saturday night PantyRaid invaded The Fillmore and the majority of the crowd got what they were looking for; some sexy, sensual bump and grind music laid over boom-clap beats. Though it was a chilly early March night outside, the music was plenty to keep you moving as the duo lit the proverbial dance flames under our toes and kept the place vibrating until close as a dazzling and dynamic video flashed across a giant LED screen at the back of the stage.

XXYYXX – February 27th – Larimer Lounge

The immediate intrigue for many fans of Orlando based producer Marcel Everett, is his age. At 17, his bedroom-studio musical creations hold weight and soul beyond expectation for someone who can’t yet vote. In a dimly lit setting like the Larimer Lounge, there’s no telling the age of a performer. With his sideburns, mini-fro and button down dress shirt, XXYYXX could have been a seasoned touring pro at first glance but from the moment his set began, a siren of inexperience was in the air.

Eskmo – February 16th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

Last Saturday night featured a stacked line-up of EDM revolutionaries at Cervantes’ Masterpiece. From 10pm to 2am the Ballroom was filled with progressive and futuristic bass music. The unique West Coast grooves of Eskmo, Andreilien, and Russ Liquid got the crowd out early and kept them there late as all three artists proved they are worthy of attention as they are now, and will be continue to be, pushing the boundaries of the EDM scene in Colorado and beyond.

Ott & The All Seeing I – February 8th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

The vibe on the street in front of Cervantes’ was warm, cheery and full of smiles last Friday night as fans were prepping for some release after the work week. Excitement was thick in the air as the crowd shuffled under the marquee into the Masterpiece Ballroom. This was the first test of Denver’s hallowed musical grounds for Ott’s new live show, and fans packed the house to see what they had in store.

The Disco Biscuits – January 25th – The Ogden Theatre

On what might have seemed like an average night on Colfax, those lucky enough to get the hottest ticket in town were also privy to the heat brought by The Disco Biscuits. The quartet’s Three night Colorado run, known as “Bisco Inferno,” brought fans from throughout the state and beyond to bounce, bob and frolic in the glow of not only their lasers, but also their masterfully layered instrumentation.

Tipper – December 30th – Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom

Dave Tipper is a monolithic name in the EDM scene not only for his enormous range and depth, but also the sheer volume of music he has produced in the last decade. He was at the forefront of the Glitch-Hop scene (some call him the Godfather of Glitch) and has been evolving and responding to the latest trends in music. The crowd at Cervantes’ was unprecedented; the venue was swollen with heads and the energy before Tipper’s set was incredible and tangible.

STS9 – December 29th – Fillmore Auditorium

The five-man Jamtronic crew known as STS9 took the stage at The Fillmore on the 29th for the first of three shows leading up to a New Year’s Eve extravaganza and manned their jam battle stations in front of a Mayan pyramid. STS9’s 3 night New Years runs have become a welcome tradition in the Colorado music scene and their devoted followers, like many in the jam band community, understand how to have one hell of a time but also know how to temper the excitement for night one of three with the sense that the best is yet to come.

Future Simple Project & Love and Light – December 13th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

It seems that Cervantes’ is the Mecca of the Denver EDM scene and while Cervantes’ doesn’t typically offer up a ton in terms of the visuals and stage set-up, last Thursday night was different when Future Simple Project and Love and Light too the stage. Following the recent trend of 3D projection mapped stages, Family Moons (the Promoter) offered up a spectacle of fractal images onto the broad stark white stage that mesmerized the fans as they danced.

Chris Isaak – December 4th – The Paramount Theatre

Last week at The Paramount, Chris Isaak proved that he is the epitome of an entertainer…and damn-well knows it. His show was part tight musicianship, part stand-up comedy and part pure love of performing. His charisma and charm oozed from the stage and he seems to be settling into his prime. From Holiday standards to 50’s rock classics to his own diverse catalog of original tunes, Isaak played a little bit of everything and the crowd ate up every minute of the two hour performance.
