The Ride Festival – July 14th & 15th – Telluride Town Park

While Telluride Bluegrass Festival is the granddaddy of music festivals in Telluride, The Ride Festival, now in its seventh year, has quickly become recognized for a diverse lineup and past heavy hitters such as Pearl Jam, Beck, and Widespread Panic. This year’s edition leaned a bit more on the jam band end of the spectrum, featuring headlining sets from The String Cheese Incident both nights of the festival.

Grace Potter – September 19th – Red Rocks

At several points in her career Grace Potter has been touted as the next Stevie Nicks, a female powerhouse with an incomparable voice. Unfortunately, she recently parted ways with that band that she emerged onto the scene with, The Nocturnals, and, as her debut solo effort ‘Midnight’ showed, that has done her no justice. Despite this dark cloud looming large over her, Potter took the Red Rocks crowd on a powerful journey through her history and proved her immense musical talents will never go to waste.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals – September 20th – Red Rocks

Last Saturday night at Red Rocks could have been the most perfect night on The Rocks all season. The beautiful late summer day gave way to evening that was just on the right side of chilly and the steps were filled with music fans of all ages. There were veteran rockers on hand to witness Grace Potter’s 70’s leaning Rock stylings; there were hipsters with an open ear for opener Lake Street Dive and their Jazzy brand of Folk-Pop; one thing was for sure, everyone knew this was a monster triple bill.

Tipper – December 30th – Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom

Dave Tipper is a monolithic name in the EDM scene not only for his enormous range and depth, but also the sheer volume of music he has produced in the last decade. He was at the forefront of the Glitch-Hop scene (some call him the Godfather of Glitch) and has been evolving and responding to the latest trends in music. The crowd at Cervantes’ was unprecedented; the venue was swollen with heads and the energy before Tipper’s set was incredible and tangible.

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals – October 26th – The Fillmore

If you combine Grace Potter’s decade of touring, the fact that she just happens to be blessed by the hand of god with a fine physical appearance, and her balance of raw and soulful vs.radio friendly songs, well, she can pull just about anybody out to a show and she proved that on Friday night at The Fillmore with the turnout and the diversity of the crowd. All ages and all walks of life came out for various reasons, but everyone wanted to get down…and we did just that. All damn night.
