Estimated read time 2 min read

Southern Jam-Rock titans Widespread Panic kicked off their three night Halloween stand at the 1stBank Center on Friday night and they let a high bar for the run with a set that kicked off with a cover of “Knocking ‘Round The Zoo” that they first played way back in 1986 before diving straight into old favorites like “Imitation Leather Shoes” and another tune debuted in ’86, “C. String Cheese Incident – January 2nd – 1stBank Center

Estimated read time 6 min read

Saturday night was the third and final night of the String Cheese Incident’s annual New Year’s run at Broomfield’s 1stBank Center. For the first time since the tradition started, however, New Year’s Eve landed on a Thursday, and so the NYE celebration would fall on the first night of the run, rather than the last like previous years. Typically, the final night and NYE combination would mean that the run would end in a bang.

Dead & Company – November 24th – 1stBank Center

Estimated read time 5 min read

Let’s face it, last week’s Dead & Company shows in Broomfield were not without controversy. What this band made clear on Tuesday is that there is new reason to love The Dead, warts and all.

String Cheese Incident – December 29th – 1stBank Center

Estimated read time 4 min read

While it wasn’t packed by any means, the 1stBank Center was amped up for the first of three String Cheese Incident shows last Monday night despite the bitter cold, snowy darkness that had enveloped Denver shortly after Christmas. All the regulars were riding the rail, there were stilt walkers and hula-hoopers, costumes, and of course glitter…lots of glitter. To say the boys came out of the gate hot would be an understatement but, unfortunately, despite some great playing, the second set was a bit of a let-down.

The Bluebird Theater hosted budding singer-songwriter Vance Joy this past Saturday night. The show had been sold-out for several months and it was apparent once Vance Joy started to strum his first note that the sell-out was justified. Even though the venue was packed, it was easy to catch a glimpse of the rising star who belted out his hand-written love songs to a swooning crowd before he hits the road with Taylor Swift in the coming year.

The anticipation couldn’t have been greater in the moments before Judas Priest took the stage at the 1stBank Center. To get the crowd going, Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” played over the speakers and every person in attendance started singing along. Shortly after, the lights went down, the curtain was dropped, and the crowd went nuts as vocalist Rob Halford’s voice rang out over the PA.
