String Cheese Incident – December 29th – 1stBank Center

Estimated read time 4 min read

While it wasn’t packed by any means, the 1stBank Center was amped up for the first of three String Cheese Incident shows last Monday night despite the bitter cold, snowy darkness that had enveloped Denver shortly after Christmas. All the regulars were riding the rail, there were stilt walkers and hula-hoopers, costumes, and of course glitter…lots of glitter. To say the boys came out of the gate hot would be an understatement but, unfortunately, despite some great playing, the second set was a bit of a let-down.

Dirty Dawgs – November 16th – Quixote’s True Blue

Estimated read time 9 min read

Moments before jam super-group Dirty Dawgs took the stage on Friday night at the new Quixotes’, we found out from a friend that Ray White (of Frank Zappa fame) was in the house and would be sitting in throughout the night. Ray White sitting in with a super-group composed of Michael Kang, Steve Molitz, Eric Gould, and Brandon Draper in the main room, and The Grant Farm in the bar? It had all the hallmarks of a crazy night and lived up to the billing!

LoHi Music Festival – August 4th – LoHi Neighborhood, Denver

Estimated read time 3 min read

Last Saturday, the LoHi Music Festival was held on 32nd Avenue in the heart of the LoHi neighborhood in Denver. The event was a smashing success by all measures, and judging by the smiles on the faces of music lovers everywhere I looked, it was well received by all who attended. This was the second year for the event and, wow did it grow fast! There were people as far as the eye could see from the main stage looking west on 32nd Avenue by the time Particle hit the stage with Michael Kang of The String Cheese Incident around six thirty.

String Cheese Incident – July 6th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

Well if you haven’t heard by now, let us be the first to tell you . . . Friday night at Red Rocks was WET! Early in String Cheese Incident’s first set, a storm that had been threatening for a while descended on the venue. The bathrooms (and anywhere else with a roof for that matter) were packed with sodden fans, and people huddled together in beer tents and under just about any overhang they could find as water fell from the sky in sheets as they waited for what turned out to be a stellar show from the band for nearly two hours.

String Cheese Incident – July 5th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

When String Cheese takes over Red Rocks for a run of shows it’s always a party and last night was no different. It took the stands a while to feel crowded, but slowly but surely the freaks filtered in and by 7:30 the air was buzzing with anticipation. Though it looked like only three quarters of the tickets were sold for the first night of this summer’s three night run, the boys didn’t hold back and really brought it right out of the gates. Get ready for night two . . . the boys are on fire!!!

PICK OF THE WEEK: String Cheese Incident – Red Rocks – July 5, 6, 7

Estimated read time 1 min read

String Cheese Incident has not played Red Rocks since the venue was host to their comeback run two years ago and that should be reason enough to catch at least one of their shows this weekend at the legendary amphitheater. But, if it’s not, consider their epic electronica laced jams, their blistering bluegrass, and the incomparable energy of a weekend of incidents on the rocks.
