From the Delorean parked out front to Marc Brownstein performing the narration on “Thriller” as the show wound to a close, last Friday night’s long-anticipated Dance Party Time Machine was a major, bad-to-the-bone success. A vast majority of Denver’s local Jam, Rock, and Funk music scenes were represented, with musicians taking turns on-stage throughout the duration of the Dance Party’s 4-hour throw-down. Denverites should feel lucky to have such incredible performers, artists, and musicians living in our midst.

Despite some turbulence and turmoil in locking in a venue, the Philadelphia based quartet will once again play the Ogden. We spoke with keyboardist Aron Magner about the Biscuits love for Colorado, what makes The Ogden so special, the joys of collaboration and, among other things, his Hobbit like feet.

Valentine’s Day may be a “Hallmark Holiday” but music was in the air at Cervantes’ Ballroom this year and whether they were in love or looking for love, out of love or in lust, the nearly capacity crowd came to party at “The Love Shack,” the newest themed superjam dance party from the guys over at J2G Live. Last Friday night J2G Live and Listen Up Denver! threw one heck of a dance party. With jams from the 1960s all the way up to this summer, Colorado musicians from a variety of different bands led the crowd into a groovetastic time warp of wondrous proportions. The lineup included David Murphy of STS9 & Members of The Motet, Euforquestra, Rose Hill Drive, YAMN, Fox Street Allstars, The Congress, DubSkin, Kinetix, Octopus Nebula, The Whales, and many more.

The 90’s were back in full force on Saturday night at Cervates’ as J2G Live threw their annual 90’s Night party with some of the best musicians in Denver doing the heavy lifting. There were tons of costumes that confused the best of 80’s fashion (Neon) with the best of 90’s (Flannel) and a ton of girls even got their hair crimped for the occasion. It was great to see people getting so into the spirit of the party and it was clear that 90’s Night grabbed a firm foothold in the Denver music scene in it’s third year.
