PICK OF THE WEEK: Anders Osborne’s Yayapalooza – Gothic Theatre – Saturday, April 8th
New Orleans based songwriter Anders Osborne & Oskar Blues Brewery are stoked to present “Anders Osborne’s Yayapalooza” this Saturday at The Gothic Theatre. The one-day festival is a fundraiser for The CAN’d Aid Foundation and will feature Anders Osborne, New Breed Brass Band, Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds and other special guests.

The New Mastersounds kicked off their Colorado run of shows last Wednesday at the legendary Fox Theatre as it celebrates its 25th anniversary with special shows all month. Supporting them was NOLA’s favorite party band, The New Orleans Suspects, who got the room warmed up and ready to rage.

Intensely focused on the composition and approaches of classic funk recordings, with Analog Son they have cultivated a new brand of funk that fuses together vintage tones with modern production.

From their inception nearly two decades ago in Leeds, UK, The New Mastersounds have wholeheartedly embraced the “old school” label—their sound rooted deeply in classic soul jazz, boogaloo and funk. Turkuaz is a 9-piece “Powerfunk” outfit from Brooklyn, NY, whose modern take on the classic funk sound has established them as leaders in the funk revolution. These two bands together is a night of music you don’t want to miss!

PICK OF THE WEEK: Analog Son – Fox Theatre & Ophelia’s – Friday, February 26th & Saturday, February 27th
Denver-based trippy funk duo Analog Son will play two local shows at the end of February with special guest Jason Hann (EOTO, The String Cheese Incident). On Friday, February 26th, the former Kinetix members bring their own taste of funky fresh music to Boulder’s legendary Fox Theatre, and to Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in Denver the following night, Saturday, February 27th.

Dance Party Time Machine – December 11th – Cervantes’ Ballroom
This past Friday night brought Denver unusually warm weather and a variety of choices for the Denver live music faithful to get down. Down at Cervantes’, J2G Live was ready to deliver their third installment of the Dance Party Time Machine, a collaborative effort of Denver’s finest musicians who come together to throwdown a mixtape of hits from throughout the decades of dance music. After trips through the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and more, the time machine landed safely in 2015 to end the evening.

Over five years ago, on a fateful April Fool’s Day, a show was heldthat would lead to the rise of a Denver tradition. Dubbed “Foolin’ Around in the 90s,” the show was a chance for local musicians to come together and show Denver what our stellar local scene is made of. Organized by the guys who would eventually go on to form J2G Live, “Foolin’ Around in the 90s” evolved into one of the funkiest nights of the year.

Campout For The Cause – May 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th – Rancho Del Rio
Imagine a tiny wayside town off the beaten path of another place off another beaten path. This is Rancho Del Rio, site of the annual Campout for the Cause festival. Located four miles from State Bridge in Bond Co and Highway 131, the use of the word “town” for Rancho Del Rio is extravagant. Simply “Rancho,” as the locals call it, is no more than a smattering of small cabins and a local BBQ stand.
