Whitewater Ramble – Roots & Groove

Estimated read time 6 min read

One of the most difficult juggling acts any Jamband has to perform involves the translation of the energy, passion, and improvisation of a live show into a studio album. While most bands try and make a distinction between “studio” and “live,” Whitewater Ramble has done a damn near perfect job of combining the two with their most recent album, Roots & Groove. This latest effort from the Fort Collins quintet captures the “high-octane” feel of their live shows, while at the same time crafting a cohesive and meaningful studio record.

Fox Street Allstars (CD Release Party) – March 2nd – Larimer Lounge

Estimated read time 6 min read

The Larimer Lounge is a dive bar, pure and simple; it’s a little out of the way, wires hang from the low ceiling, and the walls are plastered with simple posters for upcoming shows, but last Saturday it was transformed into a Southern Juke Joint when Fox Street Allstars threw the album release party for their sophomore album Tough Talk. The sounds of R&B, Funk, and gritty, Whiskey soaked Rock-n-Roll spilled out on the street all night as the temperature inside climbed and bodies rubbed together on the dancefloor.

Mark Vann Foundation Benefit – December 16th – Boulder Theater

Estimated read time 4 min read

For the 9th year, The Boulder Theater gathered a slew of the best musicians from the Front Range, and from the Jamband scene in general, for the annual “Mark Vann Foundation Benefit Concert.” Overall it was a very classy event put on for an amazing foundation. It is a great thing to see so many people come out and celebrate life while giving back to people who may not have the opportunity to celebrate themselves. The way music can bring people together, put smiles on faces, and brighten days, is truly spectacular.

Jonah Wisneski – Lights

Estimated read time 2 min read

Jonah Wisneski’s debut album “Lights” has a lot of different styles and sounds that blend together really well enabling the listener to leave the album on from start to finish and here it as an entire work of art. From the country shuffle of “Route 6,“ to the funky and soulful “Riverboat Queen,” Jonah keeps the songs lined with his smooth and jazzy version of the blues.
