The Last Waltz Revisited – November 27th – Ogden Theatre

The Ogden Theatre was sold-out for the 9th annual The Last Waltz Revisited concert last Wednesday. The Thanksgiving eve tradition is highly anticipated each year, and 2013 was no exception. Smiles abounded with warm hugs being exchanged and old friends reuniting as the venue filled up before the show. Hosted each year by Polytoxic members CR Gruver and Tori Pater, all in all more than 40 musicians graced the stage as they took part in the reenactment of one of the most famous concerts in Rock and Roll history.

George Thorogood and The Destroyers & Buddy Guy – August 28th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Baby boomers slowly strolled into Red Rocks last Wednesday night for a co-headliner of classics with Buddy Guy & George Thorogood. It was a beautiful summer evening complete with a gorgeous Red Rocks sunset and in the end it was a great opportunity to see a Blues legend dazzle the crowd before a classic rock n’ roller went through the motions on the same stage.

Polytoxic’s Annual Last Waltz Revisited is a Denver Thanksgiving tradition that was especially tasty this year. The Ogden was sold-out and filled with an energy that pulsed with love for the music of The Band on Thanksgiving Eve as four generations of audience members sang along to songs that have become ingrained in the fabric of our lives. Parents put their arms around their children, friends hugged each other in the middle of songs and people felt some of their favorite music in a way few get to experience.

Jonny Lang – July 10th – The Boulder Theater

Last Tuesday night blues-rocker Jonny Lang brought out blues fans from several generations to a standing-room only Boulder Theater. He succeeded, if only for two and a half hours, in tricking the Tuesday night crowd into thinking it was Friday. His guitar playing, vocals, and stage presence conveyed the highs and lows of the blues to everyone who had the pleasure of being there. It’s no wonder Lang has received the praise of colleagues and guitar legends like Eric Clapton, and also Buddy Guy.
