boygenius – August 5th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

The girls of boygenius are no strangers to the stage. Although still in their twenties, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus have been writing music and playing shows since their teens. All three artists have performed in front of Colorado fans since 2016, gracing stages at the likes of Lost Lake Lounge, Globe Hall, Bluebird Theatre, The Ogden, Mission Ballroom, and Red Rocks. Then, in 2018 that they joined as a band; united by a love for each other’s music coupled with their disgust with how “women in music” were defined and pitted against each other.

Phil & Friends – February 5th – Mission Ballroom

Phil Lesh and his ever present “Friends” set up shop at the Mission Ballroom last weekend and this time around he invited Grahame Lesh on guitar and John Molo on drums, Rick Mitarotonda of Goose, Jason Crosby on keyboards and violin, and the Trey Anastasio Band horns, Natalie Cressman, Jennifer Hartswick, and James Casey.

Greensky Bluegrass – January 8th – Mission Ballroom

Neal Francis – December 30th – Globe Hall

It’s no secret that it is a strange time in the world right now with the ongoing pandemic and the surge of the Omicron variant, but it’s an even stranger time in the world of live music. As 2021 wound down, New Year’s events were being cancelled left and right and music fans were left to wonder if one of the most important nights on the concert calendar would be left blank. Goose – November 21st & 22nd – Mission Ballroom

Goose made their triumphant return to Denver with a two night stand at the Mission Ballroom this past Sunday and Monday. While these are tough nights for shows, the incredible momentum this band has propelled each night to a sell-out. While there are some who question Goose’s staying power as a premiere band on the scene, these two shows did a lot to shut those folks up.

Billy Strings – October 14th – Mission Ballroom

For many fans in attendance, it had been about 18 months since they had purchased their tickets to this show so what better way to kick things off than by having the man himself, Mr. Billy Strings, open this mammoth four night run by taking the stage alone and delivering a mesmerizing take on “Guitar Peace” from his stellar Home album. This may have been the first night of a four night run, but it was by no means a warm-up. This band is firing on all cylinders right now.

Dropkick Murphys & Rancid – October 1st – Mission Ballroom (Outside)

Since the early 1980s, the format has been used widely by independent record labels and punk bands. Friday nights “Boston to Berkeley II” tour had the same benefits of a split EP.
