A near sold-out crowd braved the cold and packed The Ogden last Saturday for the return of Canada’s favorite power trio, The New Deal. The band set a very high bar with the driving rhythms and pulsing beats of house music combined with sleek and almost futuristic sounding melodies that are their calling card. Their largely improvised show proved they are poised for big things to come. Hopefully for fans this is true and none of them will have to say “Its been so long since I’ve seen The New Deal” ever again.
The New Deal is back! As one of the first bands to combine the electronic dance beats of House music with the improvisational excitement of a live band, the Canadian trio is has spent the last several months breaking in a new drummer and getting back to what they do best. Fresh out of Boulder, Big Gigantic has raged the Red Rocks stage three years in a row and Dominic Lalli made it a point to admire the audience, explaining that no other venue makes him feel quite this privileged. Who can blame him? This was the third annual Rowdytown, featuring Big Gigantic and we are happy to see them so grounded at their home in Colorado. Until next year!
