The Hi-Dive has always been one of the go-to venues in Denver for independent music, and the South Broadway staple continues to live up to it’s reputation. Hipster girls in sweaters and glasses a bit too big for their faces shuffled their slouched boots across the well worn floor while plaid shirt wearing boys rocked out to the sometimes heavy sounds of a couple of Denver’s best Indie bands, and a couple that you definitely will be hearing more about.

Strange Americans have created a smoldering sound that is a well thought out blend of Alt-Country, Indie Rock, and Americana, by cherry picking some of the best elements of acclaimed acts like Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, and The Band, to influence their songwriting. Last year, FaceMan, the group, released its debut self-titled album and hosted a CD release party at the Bluebird Theater in Denver that was dubbed “FaceMan’s First Waltz.” The concept was for FaceMan to be the house band for the event, playing their new material, but also material from the other bands that joined them. Now, one year later — almost to the day— FaceMan is releasing its second album, FeedingTime, and will host FaceMan’s Second Waltz at The Bluebird.

FaceMan’s Waltz is a celebration of both the Denver music scene and the band’s second full-length album titled “FeedingTime.” Since the band’s beginning in 2008, FaceMan has developed a reputation of delivering entertaining live shows that combine original music and videos with an emotional performance. FaceMan is a band that seeks out every opportunity to collaborate with other musicians and, in the tradition of The Band’s Last Waltz, they have invited some of Denver’s finest to share the stage at the second annual Waltz.
