As if that weren’t enough, other featured guests include Nigel Hall (Scofield, Warren Haynes, Soulive, Lettuce) and The Shady Horns from Soulive and Lettuce. Railroad Earth – December 30th – The Ogden Theatre

The sold out crowd lined up outside The Ogden on Friday was buzzing while waiting for doors to open. Since Railroad Earth announced that Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident would be sitting in with them, this show was on many people’s radar. Questions like “How long is Kyle gonna sit in for? Are they going to do String Cheese covers? What songs will Kyle play with the band? Will Kyle sing?” were about to be answered over the course of a very memorable show!

Colorado loves it’s Cheese and the fact that Kyle Hollingsworth was going to be playing with his SCI cohort Michael Kang was almost too much for some eager fans to handle at Cervantes’ last Saturday! This incarnation of KHB brought the positivity and brightness of SCI, but they focused on the funk that Kyle brings to the Cheese party for well over two hours. It was an infectious night of funk.

Collegiate Peaks Music Festival, now in its 6th year, may just be the best little known music festival of 2011. This year a diverse line up of 14 bands took to the stage situated next to the Arkansas River and in the shadow of the Collegiate Peaks from July 28th – July 30th. Staying with tradition, CPMF remains a celebration of Colorado by featuring some of the best bands from around the state. Additionally, the festival recruits an eclectic selection of touring bands from all over the US.
