Furthur – September 20th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

Red Rocks in September is an unpredictable place for the weather and it seems like shows go later and later into the Fall season each year. Furthur has embraced this trend and has made late September theirs; this year playing a 4-night run of shows. This year the Friday night show proved the former members of the Grateful Dead are still stalwarts of an industry where you’re only as good as your last sold-out show or successful tour. As a whole, the show was very well played, energetic, and fun as hell!

Estimated read time 4 min read

While Hart isn’t the most followed of the Dead members, and the half-full Ogden proved that last Thursday, there were still fans of all ages in attendance. From the opening notes of “Samson and Delilah,” to the closing strains of “We Bid You Goodnight,” the band was on fire and loving every minute of playing together. Long after the show was over the words Hart said at the end of the first set rang true: “I told you it was going to be good, now you gotta go tell your friends what they missed!” How right he was!

Mickey Hart is best known for his nearly three decades as an integral part of an extraordinary expedition into the soul and spirit of music, disguised as the rock and roll band the Grateful Dead.
