Mumford & Sons set up shop at Red Rocks for two nights last week and invited Dawes, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Slow Club to join them. While the headliner’s setlists for the two nights were nearly identical, by all accounts the band wow’d the capacity crowds each evening and even those who attend both shows were blown away. Clearly forshadowing the release of their highly anticipated upcoming record, Babel, the group highlighted seven songs from the album that will be released at the end of the month.
The Ogden was packed last Wednesday night. From Hipsters, to Hippies, the room was a melting pot of Denver demographics, but everyone had turned out for the same reason, to see Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. They group hasn’t released any new material recently, but they have steadily become more and more popular and the excitement in the room was at a fever pitch by the time Alex Ebert, Jade Castrinos, and the rest of the Magnetic Zeros took the stage.
Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Gregory Alan Isakov’s song-craft lends to the deepest lyrical masterpieces. With hints of his influences, Leonard Cohen, and Iron & Wine, Isakov has been described as “strong, subtle, a lyrical genius” and has shared the stage with touring artists such as Calexico, Mumford & Sons, DeVotchka, and Brandi Carlile. Reed Foehl will join Isakov on this intimate pre-Christmas bill.
