While Telluride Bluegrass Festival is the granddaddy of music festivals in Telluride, The Ride Festival, now in its seventh year, has quickly become recognized for a diverse lineup and past heavy hitters such as Pearl Jam, Beck, and Widespread Panic. This year’s edition leaned a bit more on the jam band end of the spectrum, featuring headlining sets from The String Cheese Incident both nights of the festival.

Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of Ska and Reggae music. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock and when they bring their acoustic tour to Denver this weekend, New Orleans powerhouse Anders Osborne will join The Maytals on the bill at Swallow Hill. Between the two of them, it is sure to be a memorable night of music.

Last Saturday night, The Flight For Life Benefit and KBCO’s 35th Anniversary concert was held at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield. With performances from KBCO darlings like The Dunwells, Amos Lee, and Sheryl Crow it was a bit surprising that the modest arena was only a little over half-full of fans, radio station devotees, and folks out to support a great cause. Despite this, nothing could stop this group from having a great time.

Revenge Of The 90’s – March 30th – Stoney’s Bar & Grill

Ah, the 90’s. It was a wild time with 80’s Hair Bands getting devoured by the raging juggernaut out of Seattle that was grunge, and Hip-Hop enjoying it’s glory years. Nirvana fearlessly led the Grunge movement while Green Day showed us all how to blend Pop and Punk to create some ridiculously hooky songs. Speaking of hooky songs, Weezer, Sheryl Crow, and Ace of Base all cranked out a few of their own throughout a decade that was known for the rise of the internet, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and the first Gulf War.
