Red Rocks in September is an unpredictable place for the weather and it seems like shows go later and later into the Fall season each year. Furthur has embraced this trend and has made late September theirs; this year playing a 4-night run of shows. This year the Friday night show proved the former members of the Grateful Dead are still stalwarts of an industry where you’re only as good as your last sold-out show or successful tour. As a whole, the show was very well played, energetic, and fun as hell!
Mickey Hart is best known for his nearly three decades as an integral part of an extraordinary expedition into the soul and spirit of music, disguised as the rock and roll band the Grateful Dead. As half of the percussion tandem known as the Rhythm Devils, Mickey and Bill Kreutzmann transcended the conventions of rock drumming.
Listen Up Denver! had the honor of catching Elephant Revival, DeVotchKa, Great American Taxi, and 7 Walkers at the recently re-opened State Bridge this summer. The new venue is an incredible place and as the season came to a close we sat down with Matt McRae, State Bridge’s Director of Operations, to get his take on the first season and to find out what the future might have in store.
Bill Kreutzmann of Grateful Dead fame brings his new band, 7 Walkers, to the Gothic Theatre on Friday night for a night of classic Bay Area rock and New Orleans funk. While the band, that also features Papa Mali, is sure to run through a majority of their self titled debut album, they will also delve deep in the catalog of Grateful Dead favorites to keep everyone dancing late into the night.
