The Motet & Lettuce – June 5th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Red Rocks Amphitheatre has seen a lot of moisture over the past month so it wasn’t surprising when Friday’s much anticipated evening with Lettuce and The Motet began with another drenching monsoon thunderstorm that unleashed a brief but violent torrent of water, wind and lightning which sent fans scrambling as waterfalls cascaded off the rocks and turned the stairs into raging rivers of mud. The Motet’s “Mixtape 1975” – November 1st – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 3 min read

The Motet, the funkadelic Denver supergroup, played for a packed house this past Halloween weekend at the Ogden Theatre. The spooky tradition of covering an artist each Halloween weekend was broken last year when the band decided to play hits only from 1980 and this year they chose 1975. The show, dubbed appropriately “Mixtape 1975,” stayed true to the band’s Afrobeat heritage. As the band took the stage the buzz of the audience turned into raucous applause, eager for what was to come from this groovin’ group.

Soul music is born of spirit and the Nth Power creates spirited sounds straight from their souls. This “super-group” of a band is made of some of the best in the business, and every member is now prioritizing the once side-project. Not only is the band creating beautiful sounds, they are pulling on heart strings with some of the most passionate soul-music to have ever been made…and that is no exaggeration. According to co-founder Nigel Hall, this is more than a band, it’s home.
