Infamous Stringdusters – December 12th – Fillmore Auditorium

Estimated read time 4 min read

Dobro penetrated brick walls as I waited in line for the box office on Saturday. Inside the Fillmore Auditorium, soundcheck was unfolding for a huge night of music rooted in tradition, but tied to the heartbeat of the present. Inside, three bands, all with ties to Colorado, waited to play for the massive auditorium. There were flannels, puffy coats, vests, dresses, boots and of course, beards all there to witness a great evening of Americana that wrapped with all of the musicians onstage singing “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.

After what can only be described as an epic night on The Rocks, The Disco Biscuits headed back to The Ogden for their 4th and final performance of the weekend. After such an amazing night on the rocks, both the crowd and band were anxious to close things out with a bang and The Biscuits did not disappoint. “Denver is on FIRE right now” were the words Marc Brownstein touted before getting things going and it seems the band was dedicated to keeping that fire burning for at least one more night.

With so many out and about in Denver to celebrate the 4/20 “holiday,” mellow vibes quickly turned to desperation as the box office attendant posted the “Sold-Out” sign in front of the iconic Ogden Theatre. While it may have been a surprise to some that a band making their Denver debut on a Monday night sold-out the 1,700 person theater, the performance Billy and The Kids turned in showed why it’s always smart to grab your tickets in advance.
