Eddie Roberts, guitarist of UK Funk band The New Mastersounds, has started a series of benefit concerts to focus on various homeless issues in the US. Eddie decided to join his music with artists and organizations that are working to make a difference in the lives of others. For this weekend’s Denver shows, the guitarist will be backed up by members of The Meters, Allman Brothers Band and more! Don’t miss it!
What can only be described as a super group of extraordinary proportions, Analog Son will be performing together at the Bluebird Theater this March 7th to celebrate the release of their sophomore album “Stomp And Shout.” The show will feature Nigel Hall (Lettuce, Soulive, Nth Power) and Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident, EOTO) along with a number of featured performers known both locally and nationally.
It wasn’t too long ago that the seedy remnants of a smut shack were re-imagined into an entertainment complex with music, arcade games, and some of the better super-jams in the Denver area. Last Thursday set a new bar for the venue when they sold-out the most recent edition of Roosevelt Collier’s “Colorado Get Down.” This time around Collier welcomed Dave Watts, Garrett Sayers, Joey Porter and Billy Nershi to the stage along with several surprise guests who added some color to an already stellar line-up of talent.
From the people who brought you The Dance Party Time Machine comes The Love Shack. Join a party hungry crew at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on Friday February 13th for a Valentine’s Day dance party with some of Colorado’s finest musicians. Featuring members of Big Gigantic, The Disco Biscuits, The Motet, Elephant Revival, Seven Arrows and some of the best local talent Colorado has to offer!
Cervantes’ threw their 12 year anniversary celebration this past weekend and it was Everyone Orchestra kicking off another year of musical delightment at everyone’s favorite Welton St ballroom. Everyone Orchestra was the band for both Friday and Saturday night, with local bands The Congress opening Friday and Deadphish Orchestra Saturday. On Saturday the scene was filled with excitement, patrons ready to celebrate. The line to get in was long and tight, regulars and newcomers waiting to push through to the party.
There was no better place to be than at the Boulder Theater on the first evening of the New Year. YMSB’s show was one of those shows that is simply unlike any other, an unforgettable, irreplaceable night of creativity and chemistry. Having gone through quite the transition in 2014, the band has persevered, and thus gone on to create such incredible music paired with truly magical moments, such as the one that occurred last Thursday at the Boulder Theater.
2014 was a year of transformation for Yonder Mountain String Band. We had a chance to chat with banjo player Dave Johnston who talked about Yonder’s star studded New Year’s run, their new album, and what the future holds in store for YMSB. Dave also spoke candidly about the challenges faced in the wake of Jeff Austin’s departure from the band as well as YMSB’s search for a new identity.
Victor Wooten, known for his solo recordings and tours, and as a member of the Grammy-winning super group, Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, has won most every major award given to a bass guitarist. While he is reason enough to make it out to Cervantes’ on Saturday, the fact that Stephen Bruner aka Thundercat and Garrett Sayers are rounding out the bill makes this a gathering of three of the best bass players around.
