Grace Potter – September 19th – Red Rocks

Estimated read time 3 min read

At several points in her career Grace Potter has been touted as the next Stevie Nicks, a female powerhouse with an incomparable voice. Unfortunately, she recently parted ways with that band that she emerged onto the scene with, The Nocturnals, and, as her debut solo effort ‘Midnight’ showed, that has done her no justice. Despite this dark cloud looming large over her, Potter took the Red Rocks crowd on a powerful journey through her history and proved her immense musical talents will never go to waste.

Railroad Earth – September 18th – Red Rocks

Estimated read time 4 min read

There’s magic in the air when Railroad Earth comes to town. Last September the band produced a sweeping live film of their performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Needless to say it was a monumental show and this year would be hard pressed to surpass the energy and set list from the show that made fans swoon. Anytime you get to hear Railroad Earth play two sets it’s a special experience for the band and attendees but the 2014 Red Rocks set a standard that is difficult to match.

Shows on Monday nights are usually referred to as “tough,” “inconvenient,” and even of the “take it or leave it” variety but the buzz on the way out of the venue last Monday was about this being the best Red Rocks show so far this summer. The Motet & Lettuce – June 5th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Red Rocks Amphitheatre has seen a lot of moisture over the past month so it wasn’t surprising when Friday’s much anticipated evening with Lettuce and The Motet began with another drenching monsoon thunderstorm that unleashed a brief but violent torrent of water, wind and lightning which sent fans scrambling as waterfalls cascaded off the rocks and turned the stairs into raging rivers of mud. It was truly a crazy scene but by 9:00 the storm had passed and fans slowly emerged from their caves, soaked but ready to dance.

The Avett Brothers – July 11th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

Rain didn’t damper spirits on Friday evening as The Avett Brothers kicked off a three-night run under the stars at Red Rocks Amphitheater. For Friday’s show, the Avett boys wrangled Bob Weir and Ratdog off their summer tour for an opening slot at the iconic venue. The Avett Brothers have the rare ability in the music world to make you feel their emotions through song and dance. The maturity and mellow nature of the crowd doesn’t hurt either.
