Swift: Marco Benevento’s Unlikely Quest for Continuity

Estimated read time 11 min read

Team work makes the dream work. Instrumentalist, and songwriter/producer Marco Benevento’s most recent album “Swift” is proof of it–so much so that he named the album after one of his collaborators. Imagine you are sitting at a poker table in an old west saloon. Marco Benevento is playing piano. Eyes around the table twitch, the all-night girls beckon from the balconies, hands slide uneasily over six shooters under the table. Estimated read time 7 min read

Yes it had it’s moments, mostly due to the shenanigans of nodding to last year’s “S” show by spelling out “FUCK YOUR FACE” with the setlist, but overall the show was pretty uneven musically. It just didn’t flow like the other two nights of the run that featured some of the most fluid sets we’ve heard out of this band in years.
